Leveraging Transferrable Skills

How we leveraged talents’ transferrable skills to overcome an industry talent gap and meet our client’s needs.

Opportunity

Our client, a provider of digital event solutions, was seeking a team of Digital Operators for quarterly earnings calls to support their customers’ projects. Due to the rapid, industry-wide increase in digital events, there was limited talent with the necessary experience and skills. Our client needed help to address this talent gap and find the number of experts needed while staying within budget.

Our solution

We saw the opportunity to leverage different talent types from our freelance network by focusing on soft skills and strengths. Similar client experiences have shown us that direct experience and tenure aren’t necessarily the best indicators but rather placing individuals with the relevant soft skills and strengths that are a strong cultural fit provides the best overall value. So, we recruited and trained young talent with transferrable skills from the hospitality industry to be effective Digital Operators.

We sourced talent with soft skills like strong interpersonal and communication adeptness, past corporate environment experience, and role-specific strengths like other tech experience with digital communication platforms. Because many were young leaders or newer to the industry, we coached them on professional etiquette and provided tips for integrating seamlessly with the client. We were also diligent in layering the team with tenured freelancers to deliver a well-rounded team of support.

The result

We provided our client with a total of 33 Digital Operators and stayed within the desired budget. The client feedback was 10/10 and validated that the freelancers with less technical experience but with the right disposition and transferrable skills delivered exceptional outcomes.

Find the expert talent with the soft skills and culture fit that best serves your organization.
