As the first study conducted on the freelance economy for the business events industry, this groundbreaking study will inspire meeting and event professionals to think differently about how they are maximizing the skills and experience of industry talent and provide data-driven insights on how to build successful agile and sustainable talent models for the future of work. 

Due to the novel nature of the research topic, a mixed-methods approach is being implemented to collect the data and insights for the study. See below to learn more about the methodology and timeline!

Initial Pilot Study
(August-September 2023)

Short answer survey questions and demographic questions focusing on the motivations of gig/freelance talent to a pilot group of 20-30 participants.

Qualitative & Quantitative Data Collection (October-December 2023)

Multiple choice and short answer survey to collect qualitative and quantitative data on both independent talent and organizations. Round table discussions are also being held to collect information.

Analysis & Publishing of Findings
(Spring 2024)

Development of findings into white papers, trade publications, and presentations to help solve the following business issues: talent shortages & skill gaps, recruitment & retention, and agility & business continuity.
