I Want To Work But I Don’t Want A Job: Why Flex Jobs Are Next Big Thing For The Future Of Work

The working world has been talking about “gig work” and the “gig” economy for some time now. By year-end 2023, according to a pre-Covid MasterCard projection, the gig economy—that is, companies tapping into the network of contract workers to find temporary employees with special expertise or to beef up in-house capabilities—was expected to account for more than $450 billion in revenue.

But based on what we experienced over the past year-and-a-half—and how it’s changed our lives and the way many of us prefer to work—that projection now seems way too conservative. More employers and employees than ever see the attractiveness of flex work and nothing is more flexible than gig work.
